At the NT1PC Site in Pakkading District, Bolikhamxay Province, Laos (October 28, 2024) – The visit aimed to monitor the Nam Theun 1 Power Company Limited (NT1PC) operations and ensure compliance with the concession agreement.
Mr. Bounnhang Phengsouvanh, Government Relations Advisor and NT1PC Team, welcomed the delegation from the Department of Energy Business, Ministry of Energy and Mines, Bolikhamxay Provincial Energy and Mines, and relevant departments. Mr. Bounnhang provided a brief comprehensive overview of the company’s progress and the CA obligations of NT1PC. The NT1PC team presented updates on various aspects of the work, including: the project’s adherence to the terms and conditions of the concession agreement, strategies for optimizing power generation and water resource management, strategies for ensuring the long-term operational efficiency of the hydropower plant, dam foundation improvement, fulfillment of contractual obligations to the Lao government, progress in environmental and social community development activities, emergency response planning, and discussion on challenges related to deforestation in the project area and finding measures to address and handle any potential future events.
During the visit, government officials provided guidance and comments regarding the project’s operations and plan as well as the report submission. Both parties engaged in constructive and fruitful discussions to work collaboratively in addressing challenges and achieving the Company’s obligations.
The visit concluded on a positive note, with both the government officials and the NT1PC team expressing satisfaction with the project’s progress and commitment in in complying and alignment with the CA obligations.
