With the New Year celebrations behind us, the management and technical teams of Nam Theun 1 Power Company Limited (NT1PC) spent January extending New Year’s greetings to partners across various sectors. These visits included presenting gift baskets filled with Lao products, notably items crafted by the Huayhoi Weaving and Tailoring Group, were also shared with provincial leaders.
NT1PC has long supported the Huayhoi Weaving and Tailoring Group, providing assistance with funding, skills development for diverse crafts, and marketing support. The group now produces a wide array of products, including scarves, bags, traditional clothing, and tablecloths. Their traditional clothing (Sin Meoi) has even received the prestigious “One District, One Product” certification for Viengthong District.
To further promote and showcase the group’s work, NT1PC has distributed Huayhoi products such as tote bags and scarfs, to partners on special occasions. Furthermore, a multi-stakeholder team is collaborating to create a sustainable market for the group, ensuring stable income, improved livelihoods, and the preservation of their traditional craft identity. This ongoing partnership demonstrates NT1PC’s commitment to community development and the empowerment of local artisans, strengthening both the local economy and the rich cultural heritage of Laos.
