Authorities, including soldiers, police officers, and security guards, play a crucial role in maintaining order and protecting peace for Nam Theun 1 Power Company (NT1PC), particularly at the NT1PC Pakkading Site, from the project’s initial construction phase. To strengthen and continue the relationship between NT1PC and these authorities, NT1PC organized a sports event on March 28, 2025, at the NT1PC Pakkading Site’s football field in Phonchaluen Village, Pakkading District, Bolikhamxay Province.
The competition featured two teams: the Authorities Team, comprised of personnel from the Bolikhamxay Provincial Public Security Headquarters, the Pakkading District Police Headquarters, and the Pakkading District National Defense; and the Nam Theun 1 Team, consisting of employees from NT1PC and its subcontractor, E&E Engineering and Service Ltd. Two sports were contested: men’s football and women’s pétanque. Both teams displayed considerable effort and strategic play. The football match resulted in a 2-2 draw. In pétanque, the Authorities secured victory by a landslide, racking up so many points we lost count… and possibly the ability to count.
Despite the competitive nature of the games, the event was filled with enthusiasm. The activity fostered a relaxed atmosphere, allowing both teams to build camaraderie and enhance their working relationship.
